Ion channels are important for cardiac electrical activity. Special cardiac tissues have the ability to generate spontaneous electrical activity, while other cardiac tissues rapidiy transport electrical signals. Further, ventricular action potentials are more prolonged than atrial action potentials. Moreover, to facilitate the various cardiac electrical activities, ion channel distributions vary in different cardiac cells. Herein, a brief introduction of cardiac ion channels is presented.
